Best Banks to Work For

For the eighth consecutive year, American Banker magazine has selected First PREMIER as one of the nation's "Best Banks to Work For." The annual list recognizes financial institutions for outstanding corporate culture, employee benefits, financial and physical wellness programs, and workplace atmosphere.

"We've built our culture by putting people first," said First PREMIER Bank President Dave Rozenboom. "We go above and beyond to invest in our employees and their families through benefits, bonuses and recognition events. When you take care of your people, they take care of your customers."

The "Best Banks to Work For" announcement came out the same day First PREMIER employees learned they would receive a special holiday deposit of $500, $1,000 or $1,500 (based on years of service) in their accounts.

"We want our employees to know how much we value and appreciate them," said First PREMIER Bank CEO Dana Dykhouse. "We hope this bonus will ease a little of the stress of holiday shopping."

Along with appreciation gifts and events, First PREMIER is constantly evaluating and upgrading its benefits and compensation package to be competitive in the tight labor market. All employees are also encouraged to participate in personal and professional growth classes through PREMIER University and the company's multi-dimensional wellness program, Kick Start.

"We're strong advocates for a healthy life/work balance and want our employees to be the best they can be physically, mentally and financially," added Rozenboom.

First PREMIER Bank and its sister company, PREMIER Bankcard, are considered one of the strongest financial organizations in the country. Both Rozenboom and Dykhouse credit that success to the people of PREMIER and the enthusiasm and innovation they bring to work.

"Several years ago, we held employee focus groups and everyone said this is how we do it here. It's the PREMIER Way," said Dykhouse. "We rebranded our vision, views and values and have been living The PREMIER Way ever since."

Dykhouse says all employees – from the top down – are accountable to the PREMIER Way and its values, like being eager to serve and making a difference.

"We want people to do more than collect a paycheck. We want them to get involved in the community through volunteering and giving back," said Rozenboom. "The reward you get for being a part of something bigger than yourself is one of the greatest gifts we can give our employees."
