Can a non-Sanford employee receive a Sanford Debit Mastercard?

Yes, but he or she must be a joint owner on the Sanford employee’s checking account. The significant other is not eligible for the $50-dollar incentives, but his or her card will generate the 50 percent net interchange fee donation to Sanford Health Foundation.

What if I leave employment with Sanford Health?

First PREMIER Bank may reissue a traditional debit card if your Sanford Health payroll direct deposit is discontinued. There will be no charge for this service.

How is the money donated to Sanford Health Foundation used?

Funds generated through the use of your Sanford Debit Mastercard will be used for to help fund important initiatives including: the Edith Sanford Breast Center, Ava’s House by Sanford, Sanford Children’s Miracle Network, Sanford Cure Kids Cancer, Sanford Research and more!

Will the card cost me anything?

No. The Sanford Debit Mastercard is free.

I already have a First PREMIER checking account and payroll direct deposit. Can I still get a Sanford Debit Mastercard?

Yes. Simply visit any First PREMIER Bank branch or call our Customer Care Center at (800) 501-6535. Instant issue cards are available at most branches except: Wakonda, Lake Norden, Castlewood, Kranzburg, and Watertown on 5th Street. Our Customer Care Center can also mail you one as quickly as possible. While the $50 offers are not valid for switching cards, 50 percent of the net interchange fees from your card will be donated to the Sanford Health Foundation.


Receive $50 when you direct deposit your qualifying Sanford Health payroll* into either (i) a new First PREMIER Bank personal checking account, or (ii) an existing First PREMIER Bank checking account if you have not used direct deposit previously. If you already have a qualifying direct deposit, you are not eligible for this offer.

The account must be in good standing, and the recipient must still be employed by Sanford Health, at the time of the $50 bonus payout to qualify. All bonuses will be paid to the applicable account within 6 weeks of the initial recurring Sanford payroll of $250 or more.

*A qualifying direct deposit is a recurring direct deposit of a Sanford Health payroll of $250 or more per pay period electronically deposited into an eligible checking account by a Sanford Health employee. Transfers from one account to another, or deposits made at a banking location or ATM do not qualify as direct deposit.

This offer is available January 1, 2022 through December 31, 2022. This special offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other discounts or bonus coupons. This offer is only available to employees of Sanford Health who are employed by Sanford Health through the period between setting up direct deposit and payment of the bonus.

All checking accounts require a $50 minimum deposit to open. The FREE+ Checking Account annual percentage yield for balances over $500 is 0.08%. Rates may change at the bank’s discretion. The $50 bonus will be shown as interest on account statements and will be reported as interest income on Form 1099-INT. Fees will reduce earnings.
