SIOUX FALLS—Due to continued COVID-19 concerns, First PREMIER Bank and PREMIER Bankcard and the City of Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation have decided to cancel the 2020 PREMIER Summer Track Meets scheduled for June.
“We draw more than 400 kids, spectators and volunteers each week,” said Miles Beacom, CEO PREMIER Bankcard. “The safety of the community is always our top priority and we felt it would be difficult to enforce appropriate social distancing for these excited pre-school and school-aged kids, and their parents and grandparents."
For more than two decades, PREMIER has teamed up with the city to host the free, public track meets at Lincoln High School. Participants can be a part of 15 different, family-fun track and field events ranging from the softball throw to the 1,600-meter run for people of all ages. In addition to financial support for these events, dozens of PREMIER employees volunteer to work three hour shifts to help them run smoothly.
“We’re saddened to make this decision, but in this time of COVID-19, we know it’s the right decision to protect all involved,” said Beacom.
