Beacom School of Business

A Competitive School of Business for USD

Beacom School of Management building

On July 21, 2009, the USD Foundation received a gift of $5 million toward construction of a new School of Business from local philanthropist T. Denny Sanford in honor of Miles Beacom, CEO and President of PREMIER Bankcard.

The donation, part of the $133 million Campaign South Dakota fund drive, was presented to the University to ensure that the Beacom School of Business remains competitive with the best small business schools in the United States.

  • The $19.4 million facility will provide undergraduate, graduate and continuing education programs
  • Construction on the new school began in fall of 2009
  • The 73,000 square foot facility includes a large auditorium for faculty and guest lecturers and a state-of-the-art research center
  • The new building holds an increased number of students and contains modern teaching/learning areas, including smart classrooms, a training facility classroom, offices and interaction rooms for students, faculty and staff.

The Beacom School of Business remains the only business program in the state of South Dakota - and one of just a few in the region - to be accredited by the Association to Advance College Schools of Business International, the acknowledged leader in business accreditation standards.
