Our belief is that we can't be successful unless our communities are successful. A better community doesn’t just happen. It takes an ongoing investment of dollars and people power to help improve the quality of life in our communities. PREMIER consistently donates millions of dollars annually to help ignite possibility in our communities. In fact, last year we touched more than 600 agencies across our state. Over the past three years, PREMIER associates have also contributed 90,000 hours in community service, with many of them serving on various non-profit boards.
Here are just a few of the organizations and events we’re proud to serve with:
- United Way
- Junior Achievement
- Denny Sanford PREMIER Center
- South Dakota High School Activities Association
- South Dakota State University
- University of South Dakota
- PREMIER Summer Track Meets
- Habitat for Humanity
PREMIER Recognized by South Dakota National Guard
Back in December 2015, the Collections and Credit Departments of PREMIER Bankcard prepared boxes for Operation Shoebox, an organization that sends care packages to the soldiers of the United States. The 150 boxes packed by PREMIER associates contained instant coffee, personal hygiene items, prepaid phone cards, magazines, canned food, jerky and more. The items were placed into individual boxes for soldiers.
The troop that received these boxes was the South Dakota National Guard 155th Engineering Unit from Rapid City, SD and Wagner, SD. PREMIER’s efforts were recently recognized at a special community event where a Certificate of Appreciation was presented to the company. Tera Lembcke, Senior Unit Manager, Collections in Sioux Falls accepted the award on PREMIER’s behalf and helped coordinate the shoe boxes.
“It was exciting to see how many co-workers embraced this project in Dakota Dunes, Huron, Sioux Falls and Watertown,” Tera shared. “It’s great to work for a company that understands the value of giving back. Such a simple act of kindness meant so much to our military heroes who serve us daily.”
Jacks Bash – South Dakota State University
In September 2016, First PREMIER Bank/PREMIER Bankcard, along with South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD, made history together with Jacks Bash – the kickoff celebration for the new Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium (named after First PREMIER Bank’s CEO). The festivities began on September 8 with a concert featuring country music superstar, Luke Bryan, and special guests, Little Big Town and Lee Brice. Close to 25,000 individuals attended the historic concert and made it a night to remember.
Continuing to invest in the future of South Dakota, First PREMIER Bank CEO, Dana Dykhouse presented SDSU Athletic Director, Justin Sell, a $100,000 check from First PREMIER Bank/PREMIER Bankcard for student scholarships at SDSU. The weekend-long celebration ended on Saturday night, September 10, with the first home game in the stadium.
The opening of the new stadium is a continuation of the rich history of support that PREMIER has had for our South Dakota post-secondary academic institutions, including the University of South Dakota, Dakota State University, Augustana University, University of Sioux Falls and more.
